Who Can Join a Cannabis Club in Barcelona
Age Requirement
You must be at least 18 years old to join a cannabis club in Barcelona. Some clubs set the minimum age at 21. Always bring a valid ID to prove your age.
Valid Identification
You need a valid passport, national ID card, or European residence card. Expired documents are not accepted. A driving license alone is usually not sufficient.
Residency
Tourists can join many clubs, typically via a referral from an existing member or an online pre-application — some clubs also require Spanish residency. Each club sets its own policy, so contact them directly to confirm.
Invitation or Referral
Most cannabis clubs operate as private associations and require an invitation from an existing member. Some clubs accept online applications through their websites.
Responsible Consumption
Clubs expect members to consume cannabis responsibly within the club premises. Cannabis cannot be taken outside the club — public consumption in Spain can be fined €601 to €30,000 under the Citizen Security Law, with most first-time cases at the lower end. First-time visitors should be honest about their experience level.
⚠️ Important: Cannabis clubs are private associations. Not all clubs accept new members at all times. Requirements may change — Barcelona City Council ordered over 30 club closures in 2024 under a stricter municipal ordinance, and enforcement has continued into 2026.
